about

Los Angeles-based Scott Bowman aka “Boman” is returning to the electronic scene with his follow-up EP “Ocean of Chaos.” As a sonic innovator who strives to break the rules, Boman pushes the envelope with his new release.

As opposed to his debut release “Taste The Light” in 2018, this album is much darker, more visceral, and more cerebral in every way. Integrating elements of future bass, techno, halftime and ambient, “Ocean of Chaos” delivers a much more vivid, raw and energetic feel.

Boman’s love of the electric guitar makes this genre difficult to categorize, as he incorporates soaring, melodic jazzy solos over ethereal, dreamy melodies. Inspired by legendary modern day innovators such as Ivy Lab, Flume, and i_o, Boman seeks to infuse elements of clean jazz guitar over bass-heavy, moody/ambient textures, while also paying homage to his love for heavy-hitting, minimal, warehouse-type of techno that you would hear in a dark underground club at 5 in the morning.

“This album is a conglomeration of everything that has influenced me over the past two or three years, not only musically, but emotionally and spiritually. This album, although instrumental, is conceptually about the process of addiction. The process of truly believing that something chemical can be the answer, while ultimately succumbing and getting lost and dying. It's a process of getting myself as far out of the way as possible so that pure, unfiltered creativity can shine through has been my utmost goal for this album. While it is one of the most difficult pursuits I’ve ever experienced, at the end of the day, sharing it is an incredibly profound and gratifying process that I can’t relate to anything else.”
